Brisbane sightseeing
December 27, 2006
by Christine

The day after boxing day turned out to be just as rainy as the day before, but Peter still took us on a walking tour through Brisbane.

From the clock tower in the Town Hall building you get a good view of the city, both the old and the new buildings.

Christine, Peter and their umbrellas admiring the Christmas tree on the Parliament house's balcony.

During a coffee break, Christine takes the opportunity to read about who's in and who's out after the first night of the Sydney to Hobart race.

In the botanical garden, we learn about Frangipanis and their wonderful tast ... smell.

An unknown "flower" not quite so beautiful.

We find a massive fig tree ...

... and Peter immediately feels the need to climb it, of course.

As does Hannes ...

It's a knotty tree.

"Me Tarzan ... "

"... me Jane?"

Some odd looking Aussie birds.

The Maritime Museum. A paddle boat passing under the bridge.

Walking over Brisbane river to the Southbank side.

Southbank walkway

Encounter with a local resident.

The Southbank features a city beach for all those who think the coastal beach is too far a drive.

We drop in to see Ricky, one of Peter's friends, at his beauty salon.

Hannes doing Peter's hair ... or something

In the evening we're all invited to Peter's twin brother Greg's place for dinner.
