A few days of sailing
September 13, 2006

After hopping a bus from Gothenburg to Lysekil, I join my dad on the boat for a few summer days of sailing.

one of many tall ships we saw

a very old navigational sign, called 'kummel'

Passing the serene island of Hållö on our way to Smögen

Tall ship 'Britta' at Smögen

Smögen's skyline is well known to all sea farers

Taking a peek at 'Britta'...why is it that I know what _every_one_ of these ropes is for?

Gösta and dad catching up

frying fresh cod, caught by a friend in the Arctic ocean

Makes excellent dinner.

The sun setting on a warm day

Hållö lighthouse

Lazy days at sea...

Secluded lunch spot, an island to ourselves, in a small bay that's completely empty....fall sailing at its best.

A good moment for fried potatoes, sausage and eggs.

The ocean temperature is today around 70°F.

Dad in his favourite element.

The only nasty thing in northern seas...the burning jelly fish. Don't touch its threads.

'Kvartsita'

hot, hot days of late summer

resting bird

Docked at Käringön, a picturesque little island community

reading the paper on the highest peak

Shelves in the windows?

Prepare...

...and enjoy dinner.

the day ends

We wake up to lots of wind the next day.

splash on the windshield

Good fun sailing...

...on a small jib alone!

leaning some 25°

'Kvartsita' and 'Atene'

Better tripod - $30.
Great sailing - priceless.
