San Francisco Auto Show
November 25, 2005

I've never been to an auto show before, so I figured it's about time.

Lots of cars, lots of people.

The smallest gasoline convertible at the show.

cartoon-looking Chevy

with both belts and suspenders

Sounds a bit early?

a familiar butt

their latest Corvette

-Testarossa?
[over five hundred horsies]

[beefy tires to make sure you don't miss a single one of them]

it is screwed up

my first Swedish encounter

Honda, with their motorcycles, jetskis, and automobiles.

They're really just lightbulbs...but they're designed like they were Super Sonic Gamma Paratrooper Ion Plasma Ray Infra Lasers.

The Zap! may buzz around at 80 mph. But I'm not sure I want to be in a skinny vehicle like this, at 80 mph. No windsheild, no rollover bar up front, no doors...

The Xebra

The trend this year seems to be doors that swing up, not out.

Someone snuck a hot rod in here

and slot cars

And now...the Corvettes.

Every model ever released!

a fat new Mercedes

Your concept Chrysler

[those doors again]
You'd better not park in a low-ceiling garage, or under a tree...

"Works??" That's the least I'd expect from a new car.

crowded Volvo booth

The new C70....now with a hardtop.

They've also gone back to their original logo.

A very clean interior, indeed.

dash mount ignition

The XC90 features their first ever V8. Clearly giving in to US market requirements.
Who needs a V8 anyway?

A good thing: a pop-forward booster child seat in the back. Brings Little Precious a bit closer up front!

I always find these intriguing

You can see how small that little turbo actually is...a tiny 2-inch propeller on each side.
At blazing 20,000 rpms.

pick your favorite

"Jeep"

the bossy Infiniti

its heavy trunk door

tailgate mirror

interior inspired by heavy duty equipment

a very British accent for the Jaguar presentation

hand painted Mazda

Ford GT

Its tires. Bear in mind that I've got big hands.

Suzuki Blizzrd - a snowboarder's dream?

includes a ramp for strapping on your boots

Dodge

It is a monster.

a cool new invention - the 'rotoblock' engine

the spark plugs and valves rotate around the pistons (190 kB movie file)

another prototype

test drive another Zap!

Those were the days...when bumpers were made out of tough, dark rubber.

driven

Speakers under the car?

There's your easy-to-fix engine! Lotus, 60's

an actual car

Soo last century.

a beefed-up BMW

the Lamborghini
