Göteborg, day 2
July 21, 2005
On our second day of sightseeing in Gothenburg, we walk through the central gardens.
the rose garden with over 5000 varieties
we also peek through a theater set in there
along the channel
Hmmm...that looks like a good idea...a tour boat through the city channels.
Very proffessional guiding along the way, in three languages.
we're passing under may bridges
East Indian Trade Company headquarters, built in 1750.
Home of the city museum since 1895.
Everybody getting down on the floor for this really low bridge (high tide)
four inces
Gothenburg is apparently the home of the world's largest floating maritime museum.
passing by the city wharf
Chalmers school of Maritime Safety, showing various life boat systems.
temporary aqueduct above the ongoing city tunnel project
Mmm...
downtown architecture
Feskekôrka (fish church)
the town's fish market hall
Marulk, Mackerel
Mackerel, Rödspätta
clear eyes means fresh fish
Haga is an old part of town, with cozy car-free shopping
quiet, cobblestone
always two stories
Järntorget
Linnéstaden
Special lanes for bicycles? Now that's a novel concept...
espresso
A trip to H&M discovered some unintentionally funny t-shirt prints...
The Swedes are known to be quite relaxed about nudity.
In the food store: Check out the pickled herring section.
5 pound cheeses
