Christmas Candy
December 24, 2004

It's Christmas Eve. At the spur of the moment, I type "julgodis" into Google [Swedish for "Christmas candy"]...then off to Safeway for some evening shopping before they close at 7pm.
The site I settled for was www.guldkorn.com/guldkorn/tema_jul/julgodis.asp

This is the "Gräddkola":
3 dl whipping cream
50 gr butter
3 dl sugar
1.5 dl Karo syrup
1 tablespoon vanilla flavoured sugar

Mix all ingredients in a teflon frying pan
Melt over high temperature, stirring well
Boil the caramel dough hard until it thickens, 15-30 minutes
Pour dough on teflon sheet or waxed paper (may stick) and chill
Cut and wrap - store in a cold place

"Frasgodis"

100 gr butter
200 gr dark chocolate
5 dl corn flakes
shredded skin from 1/2 orange

Melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat
Mix the chocolate, chopped or diced
Stir until fully melted
Add corn flakes and orange skin shreds
Drop onto waxed paper and chill
Store in a cold place

"Vit kardemummatryffel"

1 dl whipping cream
200 gr white chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 dl shredded coconut

Bring cream to a boil, then pull sauce pan off the heat
Add the chocolate, chopped or diced, and butter and cardamom
Stir until all is melted and well mixed
Pour the dough onto a soup bowl and chill
Form dough into little balls, then roll in coconut
Store in a cold place
