Bay to Breakers
May 16, 2004

On this early Sunday morning, we gathered up in Rockridge to board the BART train to San Francisco and Bay To Breakers.
[Christof, Imola, Blythe, Sündüz, Sandrine, me]

(On the day before the race, we headed into the city to pick up the registration package.)

Lined up at the start, close to the bay waterfront in the east end of the city.

60,000 runners, all eager to get started.

There are as many different costumes as there are runners....oops, almost.

These runners...appear to be waiting for the bus?

"Footstock", the large gathering area for tired runners and others.

After a bit, we boarded the buses back to the east side.
Bad idea. Bad traffic. The ride back took longer than the run.

So, we can't just slack out and eat all day....

We head up the hill to luxurious Claremont Hotel.

The hotel offers a soothing view of the bay.
Well back & beat, we enjoyed "Mansfield Park" by Jane Austen.

Quite a day, that.
