Fall Sailing
November 22, 2003
It's a glooorious Saturday out there, so we head out for a few hours.
Imola
Alcatr......Christof
setting the sail already in the channel - quite unusual wind direction today
fair winds & blue skies - we're out by Alcatraz in an hour!
Today, mostly rubble remains.
Christof, Imola, and a symbol of Marriage :-)
The Rock you said? I don't see a rock here...but there's a small island...?
As we round Alcatraz, the wind dies and the current takes charge.
As you can see, we're making good speed (movie file)
...but we're getting absolutely nowhere.
3-4 knots...in vain.
giving Mother Nature a helping hand
a main sail, a prison, and a city
a fisher boat, some sea gulls
Well, a tug boat, really - but I doubt the sea gulls can tell the difference...
getting that shot
finding that peace
Neat, really neat. Nice job, guys!
tide's so low, you can see dry banks between Berkeley and Emeryville.
In fact, so low we could barely get back in...
...without some serious pulling...
It eventually took four guys to get her back in place.
low tide
-And the point of gates...? You can almost walk directly onto the docks :-)
This is not how they dredge over in Europe.

Yep, that's a good afternoon. The last trip this year?
The sierras are already snowclad.
