Biking Mt Diablo
August 25, 2002

Starting the Sunday on BART from Fremont to Dublin

...enjoying the views along the way...

First thing I saw in Dublin was a car, accompanied by a loud crash, coming off 580 and taking out a fire hydrant...not a good morning for everyone.

After another nice ride from Dublin to Mt Diablo, Christof, Imola, and me start heading up....up...up....
...and up...

the road up is beautiful...

...and lined with spectacular views.

...and up...

...to the main entrance.

So, we continue...up...

...and we suddenly run into Jon, who has already been at the top twice this morning. He turns around and joins us...up...

...up...

...to the summit!

So, we made it. I didn't find it that hard, actually.
3500 ft, 25°C, nice and sunny with a light breeze.
Jon, Christof, Imola, me.

After refilling our bottles, we start heading back down.

It's a little bit easier coming down. And you get to say hi to all the bikers still heading up.

It's not common to find polished granite in the relatively young mountains.

Going up took 2 hrs including stops.
Coming back down took 15 minutes.

To top off the perfect day, we stopped by at Jon's for a nice cold beer and tasty snacks.

Back on the road again. Now accompanying Christof to his car.

Then back down to Dublin, with a cafe stop along the way.

Relaxing on BART towards Fremont.

...and finally heading back home.

A pefect day, featuring about 110km of pleasant road biking.
